- The Meaning of Dreaming

Product Description
There are many theories about why we dream, but rarely, if ever, does any scholar or scientist dare give a definitive opinion. They candidly say, "We simply don't know for sure." Paramhansa Yogananda, amazingly, did dare to say: "I know exactly why and how we dream."
Regarding this book, the author, Savitri Simpson says: "My research for this book helped me to see that, at least as well as I could determine, no one has spoken of or written about the fascinating topic of dreaming with such fresh insights, clarity, and absolute authority, as did Yogananda, one of the greatest yoga masters of recent times."
The first two chapters of the book explain what science currently understands about the neurological, physical and psychological, mechanics of sleeping and dreaming—interesting information, but certainly less so than the following chapters, which are taken more directly from Yogananda's writings about dreaming. He explains the exact reasons why we dream, the processes by which we fall asleep and dream, the difference between subconscious nightly dreams and rarer superconscious visions, how to dream at will (taking charge of your dreams), and the various symbols in our dreams and what they mean. He even explains ways to contact departed souls through dreams.
This book will probably surprise you in its unusual and comprehensive look at the subject of dreaming, including its place in one's spiritual life. Yogananda's teachings are always amazing in their scope, covering every aspect of life, whether concerning mundane daily life or the highest possible realms of spiritual attainment (and everything in between). This book takes a look at one slice of this huge, delicious pie—the teachings of a God-realized avatar, Paramhansa Yogananda.
